Amazon considers another multibillion-dollar investment in Anthropic, FT reports
Amazon is reportedly considering another multibillion-dollar investment in Anthropic to reinforce its presence in the generative AI space.
According to the Financial Times, Amazon is considering making another multibillion-dollar investment in AI firm Anthropic. This would build upon its prior $4 billion investment in November 2024, bringing Amazon’s total commitment to Anthropic to $8 billion. The potential new investment is seen as part of Amazon’s effort to remain at the forefront of AI innovation, particularly as rivals like OpenAI and Google have gained strong footholds in consumer-focused AI models. Amazon Vice President Dan Grossman emphasized the shared goals between the two companies and described the size of the initial investment as reflective of Amazon’s ambitions.
